i fail to see what’s so complicated
about the don imus situation: if you say racist, sexist, misogynist, …ist bullshit, not once, but for years and years and years then you are a racist, sexist, misogynist… asshole.
people (in particular the journalists and politicians who appeared on his show over the years even after he continued to very very publicly run his mouth sometimes about their own colleauges, saying for example in 1993 about New York Times reporter Gwen Ifill “isn’t the Times wonderful, it let’s the cleaning lady cover the White house) say, ‘well i know don and he’s not a racist’, what does it take to be a racist then? as far as we know, don has never donned a sheet and lynched a black person this DOES NOT make him not a racist.
you are what you do, especially if you do it on a fucking radio show listened to by millions.
dick cheney might be a buddhist and spend his undisclosed time meditating with the dalai lama but he still constructs and implements policy that kills millions of people abroad and leaves americans impoverished, uneducated, unable to get medical care, and under water.
also jesse jackson referring to new york as hymie town does not mean that don imus is not a racist. it just means that jesse jackson is an anti-semite.
