Being a real culture vulture, it’s sometimes hard to keep track of all I’ve been up to. I can’t tell you how many times I wake up, shove the pile of critical theory books off my ultra-high thread-count sheets, and struggle to recall what kind of mind expanding event I attended or appeared at the night before. Bouncing around between Beijing, Hengdian, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, and New York hasn’t made it any easier. Now that I have a permanent residence again — New York City — I’ve decided to do a roundup of the highlights of the last few months.

- Debating the merits of the Human Flesh Search Engine on BON TV in Beijing.

- Soon after that show was recorded, I spent 2.5 months in Hengdian (the Hollywood of China) as the teacher/assistant/bodyguard/etc. to Vincent Zhao (赵文卓). This is him in action.
Loyal reader: since you check this space daily, you’ve probably already noticed that I haven’t been blogging up a storm lately. In fact you can keep that umbrella for drizzle, because, since I usually get home and pass out before any profundity can be recorded and posted on the interwebs, the window of blogportunity (TM) is narrower than Snoop’s eyes. I’m tired because I spend 13 or so hours a day on the set of a kungfu TV show. It’s a long story but I’m documenting it, when not busy trying to steal swords from the prop guys, in mercifully brief pomes. Like Danny DeVito, the poems are short, pop up at weird times, and are lacking polish. Plus, she had really good advice about getting into art fairs. People might fear you, but no one’s gonna respect you when you’ve got this kind of thing atop your dome piece. He offered me a cup of tea, but I didn’t feel like it, but I drank it anway, to be polite. I asked him did he really love New York or was he just wearing the shirt. “Do? You? Really?
A twitter friend/follower/acolyte/tweep @gr8bad originally sent me this article towards the end of July. It took me a long time to get through it, but once I reached the end and read the comments I realized I was reading the words of a jailed man.
