God I’ve been looking forward to this moment for so long! I am finally, if all goes well (was about to watch Steven Seagal’s ‘Against the Dark’ where he plays  “katana master Tao” leading a “special ops squad of ex-militray on a massacre mission, their target:”…. wait for it…. “vampires.” But inside the sleeve was the movie Australia. Bullshit!

So now I’m forced to go and watch the movie I’ve been saving for dire circumstances (I think this afternoon’s forced Houhai harassment ?airre mission counts) MINIS. Rather than explain myself how amazing it’s going to be I’m just going to quote the back cover:

“Dwarfs playing basketball… with Dennis Rodman. You can imagine? Dennis the Rodman side no longer is the beautiful woman and the automobile, but is group of lovable dwarves, it is not a Snow White and seven dwarf’s story, but is a wild animal and four dwarf’s story. The Dennis Rodman new movie “TheMinis (Dwarf Basketball team)”,in in this piece, Dennis Rodman plays the team “TheMinis” head coach, he under has four members, is the uniform dwarf. Dennis Rodman plays the training and his disposition look like very much, are individualistic, stick to one’s own way of doing things.”

WORD!  Here we go yo…

we watched (most) of frost and nixon the other night and i’ve been wondering about part of it ever since, largely as a mental exercise to keep me occupied on the beijing transit every day.

what if frost made up that pivotal phone call where nixon calls him on a friday night and snarls out a class tinged rant at frost through a knotty mouth lined with fangs and smelling of whiskey. nixon identifies himself with frost as men who will never be recognized by their fancy (probably not quaker) friends and challenges him again – no holds barred.

this call spurs frost – who for the first three parts of the four part interview has been doing a terrible job of keeping nixon from doing victory taunts – into action and he eventually truimphs over nixon in round four. when he mentions the call to nixon just before taping nixon denies making it. after taping nixon asks frost if he really called him. frost never – at least in the parts i saw- mentions their little tet a tet to anyone else.

it just seems to convenient to be necessarily true, whether it was frost, or the writer of the original play, or the movie scriptwriters that put it in and jazzed it up. after all, frost was a “great performer”.
